Within a one-hour drive of Haywood County, the University of Memphis, Christian Brothers University, Rhodes College, State Technical Institute, LeMoyne Owen College and Shelby State Community College are located in Memphis. Union University, Lambuth University, Lane College and Jackson State Community College are located in Jackson, Tennessee, and Haywood County has a branch of the Tennessee Technology Center at Whiteville.
